OLIVET RE-OPENING PLAN

UPDATE: July 3, 2020

We have been careful to follow Governor Holcomb’s re-opening guidelines for the state of Indiana.  We are now in Phase 4.5 of the Governor’s plan. With this in mind, we will continue to have limited in-person worship with social distancing and masks.  We are hopeful to open the doors with unlimited worship on Sunday, August 2nd.

June 9, 2020

As we take our first cautious step to joining together in worship on Sunday, June 14, at 9am (our new starting time), we want you to be aware of the precautions we will be taking.  Please review these carefully. If you feel comfortable in returning to in-person worship at this time, we ask that you come prepared to observe all these precautions.

Re-Opening Precautions

  1. We encourage anyone over 65 or who has a high-risk health condition to follow the CDC recommendation to exercise caution and continue to limit exposure to large group gatherings.
  2. We will continue to offer live-streaming of worship at 9am for those who choose to stay home.
  3. We will follow social distancing guidelines maintaining 6 feet of separation, which unfortunately means there will be no hand-shaking or hugging.
  4. We will direct where people can sit and some pews will be blocked off to be sure distancing can be kept.
  5. We will require everyone seated in the pews to wear a mask. We will have extra masks if someone needs one.
  6. We will have a place to leave your offering at the back of the sanctuary.
  7. We will sanitize surfaces throughout the building before and after worship.
  8. We will have hand sanitizer stations located in the Welcome Center and in the Narthex at the back of the sanctuary.
  9. We will dismiss the congregation pew-by-pew at the close of worship to exit the building to the parking lot.
  10. There will be no bulletins handed out.
  11. There will be no bibles in the pews.
  12. There will be no coffee, tea or ice water available.
  13. There will be no Nursery.
  14. There will be no Children’s Church although we will continue to have Children’s Church by Zoom at 1:30 p.m.
  15. There will be no Sunday School on premises until July 12, though we will continue adult Sunday School classes by Zoom at 10:30am.

If you have any questions about our plans for in-person worship this Sunday, please contact any elder.

It is our hope and prayer that we can lift these precautions soon.  But for now, please join with us in observing these precautions out of love and care for one another.  The Session will continue to monitor our local Covid-19 situation and any updates to the Governor’s plan.  If progress continues to be made, we do hope to be back to a ‘normal’ schedule of activities on July 12.
